Chapter 2078: Hansel Kingsley Is in Trouble
Kingsley Family Estate.
Hansel Kingsley swaggered toward the reception hall, asking the Ji Family servant who called him over, "Did the Clan Chief say what he wanted me here for?"
The servant walked ahead with his head down, not daring to speak carelessly: "Sixth Elder, I don’t know. The Clan Chief just told me to call you over."
Hansel Kingsley frowned: "The Clan Chief didn’t say anything to you?"
"No, he didn’t." The servant replied vaguely.
Seeing he couldn’t get anything out of him, Hansel felt increasingly curious and strode boldly into the reception hall of the Ji Family Estate.
The guiding servant stopped at the door, not daring to enter recklessly.
Hansel Kingsley went in alone.
As soon as he entered, he realized that it wasn’t just Lynn Kingsley in the reception hall; many other elders of the Ji Family were present, filling the circular conference table.
Everyone was whispering, discussing something.
As soon as they saw him enter, one by one, they closed their mouths as if they had agreed upon it, sitting upright, with expressionless faces, avoiding any eye contact with him.
"Clan Chief." Hansel Kingsley frowned slightly, sensing something amiss. Without seeing any other Ji family members, he directly greeted the man sitting at the head seat.
"Hmm." Lynn Kingsley remained as elegant as usual, appearing strong yet speaking politely to him: "Uncle Hansel, sit."
Hansel Kingsley took the first seat on Lynn Kingsley’s left and, as soon as he sat down, couldn’t wait to ask, "Clan Chief, what did you want me here for?"
From today’s setup, he guessed that something major had happened in the family.
However, until now, Hansel hadn’t heard any rumors, so he didn’t know why Lynn Kingsley summoned him.
A servant came in to serve tea and water.
Lynn Kingsley didn’t beat around the bush, resting a hand on the conference table, with calm eyes that revealed no joy or anger, speaking with a polite and friendly tone: "Uncle Hansel, Nathalie Quinlan came to us saying you’ve acted against the Zachmann Family in Beijing—is it true? How is it that I knew nothing of this beforehand?"
His tone was undeniably courteous, yet Hansel’s face color suddenly changed, looking at Lynn Kingsley in shock.
Lynn Kingsley’s expression remained unchanged, his eyebrows and eyes didn’t move as he continued to watch him, saying further: "Nathalie wants the Ji Family to give a response; what kind of response do you think I should give her?"
"Clan, Clan Chief." Hansel Kingsley’s neck seemed as if it was choked, his Adam’s apple moved up and down, forcing out a dry response.
Lynn Kingsley remained unhurried, gracious and refined: "Uncle Hansel, take your time to think. I called you here today just to ask and hear the truth."
After speaking, he leaned back, elegantly picking up the tea from the table in front of him, sipping it leisurely, clearly giving Hansel ample time to think.
Lynn Kingsley took the lead in not speaking further.
Not a single Ji family member dared to speak.
The expansive reception hall fell silent, an oppressive atmosphere weighed heavily on each Ji family member’s heart, pressing down insistently.
Hansel Kingsley has navigated the Ji Family for decades; he’s practically with one foot in the grave.
He’s seen all sorts of storms in this lifetime.
Initially, he was merely shocked Nathalie Quinlan could trace things back to him so quickly, genuinely astonishing him.
After a brief moment of shock, Hansel quickly regained his composure.
"Clan Chief, what do you plan to do with me?" He knew Lynn Kingsley was far more complex than he appeared and made sure not to let it become too embarrassing for himself.
