Chapter 2535: Detained
Chapter 2535: Detained
"Saint Heir?"
The old man’s eyes flickered with doubt: "Did that person send the Saint Heir to find me?"
Carson Flores replied, "The Saint Heir wasn’t sent by the Sect Hierarch to find you. He was punished by the Sect Hierarch to stay here for a hundred years. The Saint Heir found some clues and thought you might be here, so he wants to find you and understand the truth of the matter."
The old man sneered, "The truth of the matter? Does anyone care?"
Carson showed a respectful demeanor: "I don’t know much, but the Saint Heir said everything he does is for the Sea God Sect. He says the current Sea God Sect is already rotten beyond recognition, and something must be done..."
The old man coldly stared at Carson, seemingly assessing the truthfulness of Carson’s words: "How can I be sure you’re not lying to me? As soon as I leave alive, the news that I’ve been hiding in the Giant Tortoise’s belly will immediately reach that guy’s ears, and then a large group of strong people will come after me."
Carson responded, "Please meet with the Saint Heir. The truth or falsehood will become clear after you’ve met him. If we’re really here to deal with you, then at that time, you can kill us."
The old man stared at Carson, and Carson calmly met his gaze with an honest expression, without any guilt.
"Alright, have him come!"
Carson replied, "He’s cultivating in the Suffering Pray Sea, and I can’t contact him for now. However, he returns to Market Island periodically..."
The old man said coldly, "Didn’t you say he was searching for me?"
Carson answered, "He doesn’t know you’re living in the Giant Tortoise’s belly. It’s widely rumored that the Giant Tortoise is incredibly powerful, having killed countless people. So, he’s been training hard lately, hoping to wait until his strength improves, breaking through to become a Great Land Prime Immortal before coming after the Giant Tortoise, for greater safety."
The old man snorted, "Then you just stay here. When he comes and proves himself, you and he will live, otherwise, you both will die."
Carson smiled wryly; he realized he was being kept as a hostage.
The other party was afraid he would escape and leak the news, but at least, this was a silver lining; they weren’t planning to kill him.
Carson suggested, "The Suffering Pray Sea is vast, and even if someone wants to find it, it’s hard to search thoroughly. Why not let the Giant Tortoise appear once? I think once he knows the Giant Tortoise has appeared, he will definitely come looking..."
The old man gave Carson a calm look, neither agreeing nor disagreeing, and instead calmly asked, "Tell me about the matters within the sect."
Carson was momentarily dumbfounded. He wasn’t part of the Sea God Sect, so what did he know about what’s going on?
He didn’t even know the name of the Sect Hierarch.
Recalling what Simmons and Lorvian Randall had told him about the sect factions, he began to complain.
"Senior, you have no idea. The Sect Hierarch is engrossed in cultivation day and night, barely attending to sect affairs. Nowadays, the sect is full of rival forces, open strife and veiled struggles, causing severe internal strife. Even the Saint Heir was schemed against and banished here for a hundred years."
The old man sneered, "Tell me about these factions, let’s see if there’s any change."
Carson gave a brief overview of a few major factions, though not fully, as Simmons had only introduced him to those in charge behind the scenes of the Suffering Pray Sea, and it was obvious the forces within the Sea God Sect consisted of more than just that.
"I was just a Loose Cultivator before, low-ranking, not very aware of the sect’s situation. This time I came in under the Bernard Family’s request to deliver a message to the Saint Heir..."
Carson directly hid his identity, unsure if the old Sect Leader knew he was a Disciple of the Dragon Mountain Sect, would he just crush him with one hand?
In this Secret Realm of the Suffering Pray Sea, the old Sect Leader might not give him any face!
It’s better to be cautious!
The old man listened to Carson’s speech without much suspicion, coldly commenting, "That person indeed has some skills, without letting the Sea God Sect spread to Eastern Radiance, it was instead countered by the Three Sects of Eastern Radiance, losing even the basic territory of the North Sea..."
Carson remained silent, as he was playing the role of Finnian Roth, a lower-ranked follower.
The old man instructed in a calm tone, "I’ll give you a room. Stay here in peace, don’t try any tricks, or you’ll bear the consequences."
Carson respectfully said, "Then I shall disturb you, Senior."
The old man turned his head and called out, "Briony."
There were footsteps, and then the door opened, and a tall, graceful woman walked in, clasped her hands in salute, "Here!"
Carson looked up and was once again stunned.
"Briony Cooke?"
The woman turned her head surprised, her eyes filled with curiosity, evidently unaware of how the other party knew her name.
The old man frowned, "You know her?"
Carson hastily replied, "This is the first time I’ve seen her, but I know her father, Rethor Simmons. Her father released a bounty through the Saint Heir, searching the world for her. I didn’t expect her to be here with you, Senior..."
Briony exclaimed, "My father came to the Suffering Pray Sea?"
Carson nodded, "Yes, when he returned, you had already entered the Suffering Pray Sea. He made some preparations and came here to find you. He’s been searching for many years. Thankfully, you’re safe and sound. Simmons will be very happy to see you..."
